During the first year of implementation, the Virtues in Us facilitator is gaining experience with character education and the ‘Virtues in Us’ curriculum. During this period, strong support is required o nurture facilitator’s commitment and maintain the quality and the spirit of the program. To achieve this, the following support is offered to all certified facilitators:

• After the initial month of set up, the ‘Virtues in Us’ staff visit the participating schools to answer questions on site and provide developmental feedback to the new facilitator.
• During the first year, on an average interval of four months, a one-day gathering is held for the team of trained facilitators to get together, share experiences, ask questions and deepen their understanding of the program, as well as re-energize and reaffirm their commitment to character education. At these gatherings, the Virtues in Us staff also consult with the facilitators regarding the delivery and effectiveness of the ‘Virtues in Us’ program at their schools. The feedback received during these consultation sessions, assists Virtues in Us to continually improve the curriculum and ensure its effectiveness in kindergartens and schools.
• Ongoing email support/feedback is also available to all facilitators.

Two Tier Support System

After the initial year of direct support to Virtues in Us facilitators, each school selects two of its effective facilitators as ‘Lead Learners’. Starting from the second year of implementation, the Virtues in Us will offer training and support only to lead learners from each of the participating schools. The Lead Learners in turn assume the responsibility of supporting other facilitators in their schools. This two level support system ensures the sustainability of the project and the continual nurturing of a virtues culture in the school by its own staff.
